3 Wheeled Buggies
A 3-wheel buggy is great for off-roading and taking on terrains from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They are also more easy to maneuver up and down kerbs than 4-wheel models.
MadeForMums reviews editor Kath tried one of these 3-wheelers with her newborn and three year old daughter, putting it through its paces on tarmac and on tricky ground. Read her review here.
Stability
Four-wheel buggies, with their centre of gravity balancing by your child's weight within the seat, are generally more stable than three-wheelers. However, that doesn't mean the three-wheel buggie isn't worth considering, since the majority of these models are made to cope with everything from rough terrain to bustling high-streets.
Look for a buggy with large rear wheels, and a lockable wheel on the front. This will make it more comfortable to drive and less likely to fall apart on bumpy roads. These all-terrain buggies often have pneumatic tyres as well, which are excellent for handling non-paved surfaces and can even be used on sandy beaches or tracks in woodland.
They're also the best buggies for running around in, as they offer great stability on rough terrain and can help you keep pace with your running partner. They are also great for climbing and down steep kerbs, and most of them have a built-in suspension which means your child will have a pleasant ride.
One thing that can make a 3-wheeled pushchair tricky to maneuver is the broad frame, which makes it harder to fit through tight spaces and narrow doors than a 4-wheeler. However, some manufacturers have tackled this issue by implementing clever design that lets the wheels flip up when not in use, which reduces their overall size and helps you navigate through doorways with ease.
If yes, make sure to check for a lie-flat location and if the design is compatible with second seating and buggy boards (if you plan to bring the toddler). If so, make sure it has a lie-flat position and whether the design is compatible with other seats and buggy boards (if you're planning to put the toddler to the buggy). A lot of 3-wheelers fold flat, and then be put up in a upright position. This is great for those with a small boot space or have limited storage at home. However, some will require you to take out the front wheel prior to folding in order to fit in even smaller spaces.
Manoeuvrability
Three-wheeled buggies are more movable than four-wheeled strollers. They often come with a swivelling front wheel which allows you to shift direction quickly and steer with only one hand. Some models come with locks on the wheel to give you stability on more rough terrain. Certain models can be used with an additional buggy or seat, should you decide to grow your family.
If you're considering taking your three-wheeled vehicle off of paved tracks, it's worth opting for a vehicle equipped with tyres filled with air (also called pneumatic tyres) which are able to withstand the most challenging terrain. These tyres will need pumping up occasionally but will be far more durable than solid tyres and are more likely to be puncture-proof. Choose a model that has a a lockable swivelling front wheel to help you negotiate tricky surfaces.
Having a single front wheel may also indicate that three-wheelers can be heavier than buggies with four wheels when folded. Check that your chosen model fits in the boot of your car and is able to be raised should it be necessary. Certain models can be folded with one hand, and they can be raised when folded. This can help save space in small car boot.
A quality three-wheel pushchair will take on any terrain from busy roads to forest tracks. It's important to think about the purpose you'll use for your day-to-day use. If you'll be running the school run, it ought to be able to handle steep slopes and kerbs. If you'll be running with it, ensure it has a lockable swivelling'stretch' front wheel to ensure that the ride is safe.
MFM reviewer Kath found her three-wheeled buggy was able to handle well on both urban and countryside walks. She said it was able to navigate cobbles, rocky paths and bumpy pavements easily and was comfortable when running. It's also a great option for day trips because it has a lot of storage space. It has an ample, spacious zip-top covered basket as well as an extended 50+ UV hood. It can be adjusted to fit a baby's needs from birth, including an infant carry cot or a lie-flat seat. It's also compatible with the most popular stroller seats and second seats.

Fabric Sling Seat
The main difference between a fabric and a modular seat is the fabric sling. It sits inside the frame of the buggy instead of being placed on top of it like the modular chair. This allows for a more ergonomically correct posture for the baby that instantly gives a lower centre of gravity at the right height. This results in an easier push, a less hefty curb pop (you don't need much effort or weight to pop the buggy over the curb's nose) and better stability and balance.
The sling fabrics that are used in these kinds of seats are extremely durable and easy to clean. These fabrics were specifically designed for Sling chairs and are highly durable and breathable. These fabrics are also very easy to maintain using mild soap and warm water.
If you are a jogger, or you like off-roading, an all-terrain buggy is more likely to suit your requirements than a four-wheeled buggy. These styles generally have a larger base, more stable, and utilise air filled tyres to ensure smooth, easy moving on uneven ground.
Maxi-Cosi is a company known for its car seats, has added a new 3-wheeler, the Stella to its range of products. The all-terrain stroller has an enormous and spacious seat unit for the travel system that can be placed either parent or world facing. It can also recline flat and comes with an improved 5-point safety belt. It can be used from birth with an infant car seat or carrycot and comes with a decently size shopping basket and a hood that has zip pockets, and a simple one-hand fold.
This luxurious 3 wheeler made for the most discerning buggy owner is as gorgeous to look at as it is functional. The angular frame has stunning pewter finish and touches of burnished aluminum. It's a true eye-catching piece. A big, padded seat that can be used as world or parent-facing, with a new 5-point safety harness and a full set of rain covers make this an ideal choice for active parents.
Modular Seat
Modular seating can be configured in many ways to meet different seating requirements. It doesn't matter if it's a comfortable setup for watching films or a large configuration to entertain guests, modular seating can adjust easily. A lot of modular seating systems have cushions that can be removed, making it easy to clean up spills or stains.
Modular Seating can be designed to blend with existing decors or make a statement as an accent piece. You can select from a range of colors, fabrics, and shapes to design an elegant and modular seating design that fits your personal style. There are many functional features available in modular seating, like hidden storage compartments that allow easy organization and decluttering of living spaces.
3-wheel buggies provide more stability than strollers with four wheels, which makes them ideal for off-road or all terrain adventures. The large, highly manoeuvrable front wheel enables agile and smooth movement, whilst the tyres are generally air filled and have suspension, which gives you a great ride on the most difficult trails and roads. The wheels are not as close to the ground on these pushchairs, as they are on four wheeled pushchairs. Pushchairs And Prams makes them ideal for walking uphill.
Parents who love to run and jog with their children often choose 3-wheel prams because they're more agile and sleeker than their four-wheel counterparts. The GB Upp XL, for example, has an elegant burnished aluminum frame that has a simple one-handed fold as well as rear-facing and forward-facing seats. The Babyzen Yoyo, on the other hand, has black frames with a carrycot that is positioned in a full lie-flat position and air-filled tyres.
Another excellent all-terrain option is the light, extremely maneuverable and amazingly stylish Mountain Buggy Sport verso. The buggy will last from birth, with a carrycot, and will last until toddlerhood with the modular seat. It all fits within the footprint of one buggy.
